Sponsorship = ‘A blessing from God’ for CFCA sponsored youth

A recent CFCA awareness trip to Guatemala provided this precious opportunity for sponsors to hear from Mariana, an 18-year-old CFCA scholar who was sponsored as a child in 2000. Mariana

For me it was a great blessing to have been sponsored, because in my family we are 11 siblings. For my parents it has been a little bit hard to help every one of us move forward, and much more now that my dad is suffering from health problems, just like my mother.

My sister Selva has already graduated thanks to God and CFCA’s support. Seven of my siblings have already graduated, and only four remain to finish.

It has been a very nice experience to be in CFCA, because besides giving us food, shoes and clothing every month, we have had many activities.

I really liked the CFCA Christmas celebrations. The activities that take place are very nice, and I really like to participate in them.

The CFCA social workers who have helped me for the past 12 years have been very kind, as well as the entire CFCA staff; they have a unique way of caring for the people.

CFCA staffers are wonderful because they always give many smiles, and I think that for them, a smile is the greatest gift you can give them.

CFCA also stands out because it helps care for the environment. We planted many trees. They have also made recycling contests and provided training for children and young people to become aware of and care for our environment.

In 2008, thanks to God, I was offered a CFCA scholarship. The money has also helped my family very much, and helped me continue studying and pay for my transportation, as I travel. I also use it to buy school supplies and cover education-related expenses during the year.

God willing, I will graduate next year as an expert accountant, thanks to CFCA’s help. I have five years being a CFCA scholar and 12 years of being sponsored.

I thank God, Don Roberto and Doña Cristina (CFCA president and Co-founder Bob Hentzen and his wife, Cristina), and you for giving many of us the opportunity to excel. Your support has helped so many children and youth to continue studying.

I thank you on behalf of all of us for that great heart you have, for the desire to help us succeed. I know it is not easy for you to send a monthly gift, but I also know you do everything possible so that your sponsored children never lack such support.

We only have words to thank you for all you have done, and we are keeping you in our prayers always.

But there is a God who sees everything, and your reward will be great in heaven; for me every one of you is an angel and a blessing from God for us.

Thanks for your support. May God bless you always, and I hope you continue to support this labor of love.

What a Beautiful letter from such a mature lady. I know our young Juan David is appreciative and we hope to be his prayer partner (sponsor) until his completion in the program. It is a True Blessing to be a small part of his life. May God continue to Bless C F C A.

Thanks so much, Vickie and Tom! We’re constantly hearing from people like Mariana how the support from their sponsors greatly contributed to their educational success.

Thank you for continuing your support for Juan David; it’s a privilege to have you in the CFCA community.

What a great story. Powerful testimony. Hopefully these stories are shared throughout the CFCA community in Guatemala. Other sponsored children could see Mariana as a role model and might follow her example and that of her siblings. Through the work of CFCA, it is possible to make a huge difference in someone’s life. And isn’t that all we really want – to make a difference? I know I do. And that is why I am involved.
